Even if you only have a passing interest in her music, you should check out the film of the concert, heldlast November to celebrate the 75th birthday of Joni Mitchell.

The film is being shown at certain cinemas as a ‘one night only ‘ show and I saw it a few days ago.

Of course, Joni doesn’t perform any more due to ill health and as with most tribute concerts, opinions will vary about different musicians interpretations of much-loved songs. But what came through for me is the strength, variety, complexity and extent of the song catalogue itself. But then I am extremely biased….I love Joni Mitchell.

Best bit for me was Diana Krall playing ‘Amelia’ and interacting with Chris Thomas on bass…beautiful.
