Looking forward to the coming weekend at the Le Mans Classic, which this year is celebrating the Centenary of the Le Mans 24 hour endurance race. I’ll be there with Benjafield’s Racing Club who I’ve been assisting with the graphics and publicity material for this very special occasion.
Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours 211th Exhibition
This years’ Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London, and my first as President of the RI was opened by Chris Orr RA.
A Time of Change
My watercolour ‘A Time of Change’ which was hung at the RBA Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. In mid September as Summer changed to Autumn, I joined some 250.000 other members of the public who wished to pay their respects to Her Majesty The Queen. I was impressed by the positive mood of absolutely everyone that I came into contact with over a twelve hour long period of standing, shuffling forward and basically ‘hanging about’.
Our Queen was able to inspire and engender such a feeling of harmony and goodwill among complete strangers involved in this simple act of queueing for a few hours.
I Can See Your Tracks
When an unexpected heavy snowfall occurred in the second week of December, the view outside my studio was transformed.
‘I Can See Your Tracks’ is a song on Laura Veirs’ album, ‘July Flame’ which was playing in my head while I did a (quick) sketch in the freezing cold…..the painting took a little longer.
RA Summer Exhibition
A memory of the RA Summer Exhibition in 2022 exuberantly curated by Grayson Perry.
Regent's Canal.
Remembering a surprisingly peaceful summer afternoon at Chalk Farm in Central London on the busy Regent’s Canal.
Ballerine Sur La Dives
Maisie by the River Dives in August 2022
Strawberry Moon
An exceptional ‘moon in June’ over Frant village.
Wet in Wet
A memory of my day out with the Wapping Group.
And (an obvious) lesson learned: if it starts rains heavily, don’t paint in watercolour…..change to oils!
